Reis Tigermail
An unfettered, crashing, equanimous, unpredictable flow and font of life. That's what the sea is and always will be, no matter how the world changes around it.

"Ah right dimber colt."
Across Hydaelyn and the universe beyond, destiny calls and is answered by extraordinary individuals of great power, pedigree, and noble stature. But aside from them, there's Reis Tigermail.Reis Tigermail is as red-blooded a Lominsan as they come. His accent is thick and his mouth is smart, often as easy with a compliment as a barb. The midlander has clawed a confident audacity from his chaotic life. Though seemingly mercurial, he rides the waves with the constancy of the center mast in a storm.Reis stumbled forward into a begrudged status within the Maelstrom via the Rogues' guild. As such, many of his activities are duties and assignments as a rogue and/or agent of the Maelstrom, though much to his superior's chagrin, he often fills the gaps in his time with treasure hunting and other private affairs.

"On Westerly Winds"
Reis Tigermail was an only child with parents that spent much of their life absent from his, working at sea for long periods. The colt grew up latchkey and spent his youth a delinquent without regard for his future. He worked enough to enjoy his time not working and had repeated run-ins with the Yellow Jackets. While Reis' life was unexceptional and relatively mundane, he had a group of dear friends that he shared these halcyon days with. Together they whiled away their time frivolously and were content with just each other's company.
In the wake of the Seventh Umbral Calamity, Reis found himself rudderless in a world that could not support the lifestyle he had always known. His home and all of Eorzea needed rebuilding. Without the friends that had been his previous life, he set one foot in front of the other, doing anything he could and anything that would take him.

As time passed, Reis drifting from labor to labor, he fell upward through hired hand work until he fell into the lap of Jacke and The Rogues' guild, and became counted amongst their ranks, discovering an aptitude for their work. The first thing Reis had ever had an aptitude for.Reis' world opened up in the Rogues' Guild, eventually leading him to work tangentially with the Maelstrom and finding footing as an adventurer, corsair, and treasure hunter. His work through his personal initiatives and official obligations would send him far and wide. He traveled to the far east, working with the shinobi on behalf of the Rogues' Guild. He was called by the Maelstrom to assist the Gyr Abanian front, where he met Alex Dalaryn, a former Garlean and now dear friend. He took to the unexplored reaches of Vylbrand's seas, unearthing treasure and crossing blades with pirates. All this and many more experiences make up the blur of uncertainty, adventure, and chaos that is Reis's life, and he's not sure if that's how he likes it or just the only way thing he knows.

PvP and Combat notes
When it comes to PvP or PvE I prefer to use rolling for outcomes with loose rules we can discuss in the moment. (giving advantage, changing difficulty, etc.)Rolling keeps things both honest and dynamic to me.-In PvE it creates uncertainty and can lead to interesting outcomes.-In PvP, unless otherwise discussed, I only use roll based combat. We're likely both biased to our characters so it's only fair. The Grindstone is an excellent ruleset for PvP

OOC notes
• Preferred Styles
I enjoy all genres of RP and Reis lends himself well to any RP that is grounded in the world of FFXIV.My favorite however, is what I affectionately call "Lit RP" (Literature) where we collaborate and write a story together with plot and character development.- I’m open to discussion and chatting over Discord but prefer to RP in game — I'm happy to share my tag with anyone I get along with.- Player is 21+ and will not engage in dark or potentially traumatic RP with anyone under 18.• About ERP
ERP is strictly limited to 21+ players and characters.
This is a HARD NO for anyone younger.

Marine Corsair
Marine Corsair is a title given to versatile and skilled outriders of the Maelstrom. Reis' skill in arms reflects that title.Reis favors dual blades in most scenarios as a well-rounded medium, striking a balance between offense and defense. However, he's also acquired proficiency with daggers and gunblades over his career. His proficiency with manipulating aether is rudimentary, limited mostly to use of tools and devices that do most of the work for him.

Yes.
Reis found "Tha Atter" during a storm in Yanxia and they have been following him around ever since. He never intended to have a pet, yet here we are.

Plot hooks
Reis lends himself well to mercenary, adventurer, "good guys doing bad" criminal, and even high fantasy plotlines.Below are a few ideas/ongoing threads that could be pulled/inspire something:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ishgardian Incident
A count of a minor house died in a mysterious fire, leaving the house in disarray.
Someone looking suspiciously like Reis was seen entering shortly beforehand.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Identity Theft
After an accident in Copperbell Mines, a few miners were reportedly not acting like themselves.
Now there's also a blond Hyur around town asking oddly personal questions of people.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Chocobo's Eleven
Several chocobo racers have been injured or worse recently in the Gold Saucer.
One was from Costa del Sol.
Now the Maelstrom have dropped a blond skullduggery into Ul'dah to find some help figuring out what happened.
"A Sailor Never Sleeps"Icebreakers
Reis can be a lot at once for some people — but most of the time, he's social, friendly, and eager to engage. Saying nearly anything will start his banter, but here are a few ideas for inspiration:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Friendly Competition
Reis has to be in a pretty sour mood to turn down some excitement.
Something harmless like dice or harmful like sparring is sure to get his attention.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Shop Talk
Reis is skilled and accomplished — and though he downplays his Maelstrom ties, he keeps a finger on the pulse of wider Eorzea.
He's more than opinionated enough to carry on about it.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
On-Call Golden Retriever
He might bristle or give you a hard time, but he has a weakness for people who need help.
Half dashing half doofus, even if it's a dubious request, he'll have a hard time turning it down.
